Virtually all MSC, CCRF testers responded with a significant improvement over previous PT test scores and we have three fitness badge holders as a result of the inspiring visit by Admiral Carmona on Esprit de Corps day. Admiral Carmona stayed an extra half hour beyond his time he was scheduled to leave for another meeting. He waited until the very last runner crossed the finish line cheering each runner on their way. Truly, a real leader an example for all Commissioned Corps Officers.

The Military Standards Cadre for Commissioned Corps Officers is happy to announce the creation of its new Advisory Board and that Captain Susanne Caviness has agreed to become director. We acknowledge her invaluable contributions as our CO and wish to express our gratitude for her generous assistance during the founding of the MSC. We welcome her in her new role as the Advisory Board Director.
Two new additions to the Advisory Board are Captain Ed Van Giezen as our Chief Military Advisor and Dr. Connor McGrath as Chief Technical Advisor. Captain Van Giezen has directed the construction of our UCMJ training program, and provided us with much need assistance regarding PT tests and qualifications. Dr. McGrath has been invaluable in his many technical assistences regarding the construction and functioning of our web site and database operations. We are very grateful to both of these experts for their continued support of our Cadre.

As of May 2000, Naval personnel now face administrative action for PRT failures. Personnel over 50 years of age must now take the PRT test, it is no longer an option. Because this is the new Navy Standard, officers over 50 who wish to qualify with the Navy PRT standard, will be required to take the exam by May, 2001.
Another change made to the Navy PRT standards concerns discontinuing the point system. We will continue to post Navy PRT scores in points until all the Armed Forces adopt a similar policy.
