Outstanding Fitness Recognition Program

The MSC is dedicated to supporting officers that achieve high readiness standards. We award a certificate featuring the Fitness badge of the Armed Force service test where an outstanding level of achievement was demonstrated on each event. To qualify, you must test with an MSC examiner or present documentation of semiannual physical testing. One test must be at the outstanding level for each specific event of the test. This corresponds to a 90 on the run, push up, and sit up portion of the Army PFT, a 90 or "outstanding low" on the push up, curl up and run or swim of the Navy PRT, or 90% of the 1st class level of the Marine PFT pull-up or hang, curl up and 3 mile run). The important thing to remember is that you must score 90% in each separate category of a military PT test.

You do not have to be a member of the MSC to receive this recognition. The final evaluation and approval for this prestigious award is sanctioned by the Commanding Officer of the MSC.

Symbolism and Ribbon Design

The ribbon is composed of a deep blue background which represents a recognition of significant merit from officers of the USPHS, a sea service. The four light blue bars symbolize the awardee's perseverance and vigilance for maintaining outstanding physical readiness throughout the four seasons of the year. The large central bar is colored according to the level of Armed Force test performance achieved: blue for Navy, green for Army, and red for Marines.
