Training Facilities

Uniformed service officers can train at the Fort Detrick's Jennifer Shafer Odom Fitness Center by logging in with their DEERS ID cards.

The Hood College Acquatics Facility will provide officers with the opportunity to train for their swim test.

In addition to these facilities, Fort Detrick offers an extensive set of jogging trails.


Testing Facilities

Both group and individual PT testing are conducted at the Fort Detrick Barracks. The run portion of the endurance test is conducted in front of the barracks at the asphalt 450 meter track. Marks are set for the Army PFT and Navy PRT start and finish lines. In the event of inclement weather, the run portion of the PT tests are conducted on tread mills in the Fort Detrick's Jennifer Shafer Odom Fitness Center.

The swim portion of the Navy PRT test are usually conducted at the Fort Detrick Pool or at the Hood College Acquatics Facility.


Directions

Take Interstate 495 North to Interstate 270 (exit #38) toward Rockville, MD. At Frederick, Interstate 270 ends and joins Route 15 North. Follow Rt 15 North to exit #7A, 7th Street. Turn right on 7th Street follow 4 blocks to Fort Detrick's Main Gate. Once through the main gate, make your first right (the barracks are the first building off to your left) park in the adjacent lot. The fitness center is the next building off to the right once you pass the fire station.
